UNO is a 180,000 sq ft learning facility converted from an abandoned warehouse in Chicago. It accommodates 1,800+ K-12 students, representing grassroots leadership in the local Latino community. The design features two elementary schools and a high school on separate floors, with glazed volumes for sunlit communal spaces. Sustainable elements include strategically placed glass for natural lighting, a solar thermal photovoltaic system, and a green roof. The school is set to achieve LEED Gold certification, blending education and environmental innovation.
